Job summary

Arizona Public Service (APS) is seeking an IT Field Communications Specialist II/III/Senior for the Four Corners region (Four Corners, NM). The role focuses on keeping APS’s critical communication systems running to support power generation, safety, and business continuity.

You will install, maintain, and improve field-based telecom assets across a broad geographic area. You will troubleshoot complex issues, coordinate with vendors, and mentor junior staff while ensuring safety and reliability

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a high school diploma.
• Two years' related experience troubleshooting metering and control systems.
• Five years' related experience for Specialist III.
• Seven years' related experience for Senior role.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, design repairs, adjust, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment such as wired and wireless systems, microwave, IP networks, RF communications, VoIP, cameras, Wi‑Fi, fiber, WAN/LAN technologies.
• Troubleshoot and design repairs on telecom devices including repeaters, dispatch consoles, SCADA, fiber, DWDM, telemetry and GPS systems.
• Use diagnostic software and testing equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, meters) to localize problems.
• Remote/Centralized management of systems through management software.
• Install, repair and maintain Carrier Class Digital Microwave and RF Data Link equipment.
• Coordinate and provide oversight to Vendor and 3rd party support within area of responsibility.
• Train and mentor junior staff; act as SME for equipment in area.
• Work 24/7 in support of Enterprise Network and Public Safety systems.
