Job summary

NOVA Engineering & Environmental, LLC is seeking a CMT Engineering Technician to join our growing team in Tampa, Florida. You will perform construction materials testing, special inspections, and field observation services on a variety of projects across the Tampa Bay region.

This role offers ongoing training, certification support, mentorship, and advancement opportunities into senior inspections, project management, and engineering support roles.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ year of experience in construction materials testing or related field services.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Level I is required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and testing requirements.
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to complete electronic field reports.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, grout, mortar, and reinforcing steel per ASTM, AASHTO, FDOT, and project specs.
• Conduct materials testing and inspection on commercial, transportation, infrastructure, educational, healthcare, and industrial projects.
• Observe construction activities and collect field data on active sites.
• Review plans, specifications, and testing requirements prior to field assignments.
• Document testing results and site conditions using electronic reporting platforms.
• Communicate results with project managers, engineers, contractors and clients.
• Identify and document deficiencies, quality concerns, and non-compliant conditions.
• Maintain, calibrate and care for testing equipment.
• Work safely on Tampa Bay area projects.
