Job summary

Benesch is seeking a civil engineering construction intern to support daily inspection and documentation for projects in the Milwaukee, WI; Madison, WI; and Neenah, WI areas. This field-based role offers hands-on experience bringing civil design projects to life.

You will gain exposure to field projects, work with skilled professionals, and contribute to robust documentation while traveling to project sites as needed. This internship emphasizes practical learning and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Civil or Construction Engineering.
• Experience working on field projects is desirable.
• Exposure to ArcGIS, MicroStation, Geopak, and/or AutoCAD is desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organization and ability to manage budgets and schedules.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Review and confirm with the project supervisor the adequacy of the budget and schedule.
• Perform construction observation of construction activities and follow applicable project procedures.
• Maintain a field book in accordance with project procedures.
• Perform measurements of construction work and quantity calculations of pay items.
• Prepare the Inspector's Daily Reports and other project documentation as required.
• Report progress to the project supervisor including technical issues and deficiencies.
• Review plans, specifications, and submittals related to assigned work.
• Provide design or other professional assistance to project managers.
• Maintain company-owned vehicles or equipment assigned for use on the project.
