Under general supervision, you will research, coordinate, develop, and release field bulletins to improve product safety and reliability. You will read engineering drawings, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure timely bulletin closures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors/Masters in engineering or related field; four+ years with a bachelor, or two+ years with a master's.
  • The candidate must convey complex technical issues clearly in writing.
  • Experience with aircraft (military or commercial) is highly desired.
  • DoD security clearance is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and database research.

Responsibilities

  • Write detailed bulletins translating engineering investigations into concise customer documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on bulletin scope, urgency, and actions.
  • Troubleshoot and determine rework direction using engineering principles.
  • Represent GA-ASI in solving technical issues related to anomalies.
  • Read drawings, BOMs, specs, and technical publications.
  • Research GA and customer databases relevant to bulletins.

(GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an exciting opportunity for a Field Bulletin Engineer in our Engineering Field Support Department located in San Diego, CA (Poway, CA). Under general supervision with limited review, this position will report to the Field Bulletin Supervisor of the Engineering Field Support Department. The Field Bulletin Engineer will be responsible for the research, coordination, development, and release of assigned field bulletins in support of GA-ASI objectives to improve product safety and reliability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Write detailed bulletins that translate complex engineering investigations into concise, customer-ready documentation, including summaries of events and engineering recommendations.
  • Work with internal and external customer stakeholders to determine scope, urgency, actions, impacts of field bulletins.
  • Work and balance multiple bulletin assignments
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and determine rework direction by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.
  • Represent the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific anomalies to GA-ASI.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings, bill of materials, specifications, technical documents, and technical publications.
  • Research all applicable GA and customer databases related to bulletin development and closure (Sharepoint, Mendix, Team Center, REMIS, SAP, COLTS).
  • Review bulletins prior to stakeholder review and signature approval.
  • Obtain stakeholder concurrence and approval for bulletin release and closures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Travel and provide on-site support as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Strong technical writing skills – must be able to convey complex technical issues in a clear, concise manner.
  • Experience working on aircraft (military or commercial) is highly desired.
  • Experience with prior aviation flight and/or aviation maintenance (military or civilian) highly desired.
  • Manned or Unmanned pilot certificate (military or civilian) highly desired.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to effectively work with multi-disciplined technical and non-technical staff.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office is required.
  • Must have thorough database research experience.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance is required.

Job Type: Full-Time Salary
Salary range: 81,080 - 141,650
