Job summary

WestLand is seeking On-Call Field Biologists to support our environmental consulting practice across the Southwest. The role is based out of the Flagstaff office and will involve field surveys, crew training, and preparation of permitting and compliance documents on an on-call basis.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's in a related field (Advanced degree preferred) and demonstrated experience with field investigations, flora identification, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Field-oriented investigations experience and managing field crews.
  • Identify on sight Great Basin flora.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Navigate in environments with extreme temperatures and rough terrain.
  • Experience in the Western United States preferred.
  • Knowledge of biological/botanical permitting processes preferred.

  • Manage and train junior field crewmembers.
  • Develop permitting/compliance documents.
  • Manage project-related tasks.
  • Support other projects within the department.

WestLand is actively seeking On-Call Field Biologists to support our environmental consulting practice across the Southwest on an on-call basis. WestLand specializes in the technical and procedural requirements necessary for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and more. Our biologiscal resources practice includes: development of natural resources management plans; conducting ecological investigations and base-line studies; and mitigation planning, design and implementation. This position will be based out of our Flagstaff office and will support projects in northern Arizona and southern Nevada.

What will I be doing?
  • Conducting field surveys and investigations.
  • Management and training junior field crewmembers.
  • Developing permitting/compliance documents.
  • Managing some project-related tasks.
  • Supporting other projects within the department.
What qualifications are required for this role?
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with field-oriented investigations and managing field crews.
  • Ability to identify on sight Great Basin flora.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate physically in various environments including those with exposure to extreme temperatures and rough terrain.
  • Experience in the Western United States strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of relevant biological/botanical permitting processes also preferred

The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $34.00 per hour.
