Job summary

WestLand, a Trinity Consultants team, is seeking a skilled Archaeologist to lead archaeological fieldwork and supervise crews in Nevada. The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in a relevant field and have at least three years of experience in the Colorado Plateau or Great Basin regions, along with supervisory experience. Responsibilities include coordinating fieldwork, managing records, and writing reports. Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field; Bachelor's with experience is acceptable.
  • 3+ years experience in Colorado Plateau/Great Basin.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in the relevant cultural regions.
  • Experience writing technical archaeological reports.
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions and travel out of town for work.

What will I be doing?
  • Leading and coordinating archaeological field work (field survey, testing, monitoring, and data recovery excavations).
  • Supervising field crews to record artifacts, features, and other manifestations using GIS applications, map archaeological features and sites, draw scaled profiles and plans, and maintain paperwork, notes, and records.
  • Filing and scanning records and paperwork.
  • Completing record searches and archival research.
  • Writing technical cultural resources reports and site records.
Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field. A Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field and additional years of experience may substitute a Master's degree.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the Colorado Plateau and/or Great Basin culture regions.
  • A minimum of two (2) year supervisory experience in the Great Basin and/or Colorado Plateau culture regions.
  • Previous experience writing technical archaeological reports.
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork for long hours in a variety of environments featuring extreme temperatures, rough terrain, and changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel out of town for work throughout the West (paid drive time, per diem and hotel provided).
  • Preference will be given to candidates that are permitted or permittable in Nevada, Idaho, and/or Utah.

The salary range for this position is $30.00 - $39.50 per hour.
