Job summary

The Montana Conservation Corps (MCC) in Bozeman, MT seeks a Youth Program Manager to lead statewide field programs for high school youth, including the five‑week Leadership Development Program. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and experience in field, wilderness, or outdoor youth development settings.
  • Experience working with teens and understanding adolescent development.
  • Knowledge of youth program risk management practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, and written/verbal communication across diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluency with Google Workspace and database management.
  • Minimum age 21.
  • Ability to travel for overnight trips and work occasional evenings/weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR check and drive MCC vehicles.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and hike up to 10 miles daily.
  • Current Wilderness First-Aid/CPR certification (MCC can provide training).
  • Ability to pass a Criminal History Check.

Responsibilities

  • Drive recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of AmeriCorps Youth Program Leaders.
  • Direct the execution of the five‑week Leadership Development Program with high‑quality instruction.
  • Provide supervision and professional development for Youth Program Coordinators and Field Support Technicians.
  • Instill a culture of care and professionalism among staff and youth participants.
  • Oversee program curriculum, work‑based learning concepts, and service‑learning objectives.
  • Lead off‑season projects focusing on program debriefs, partner feedback, and systemic improvements.
  • Oversee youth program enrollment pipelines and coordinate Admissions processes.
  • Drive recruitment outreach and expand geographic coverage across Montana.
  • Manage virtual orientations and pre‑program communications.
  • Oversee field logistics, gear caches, food systems, and safety practices.
  • Lead field operations visits to audit safety and coach leaders.
  • Manage incident responses and adjustments to crew dynamics.
