Job summary

JDS Consulting is seeking a reliable Structural Engineering Technician to join our Raleigh, NC team. This field-based role focuses on performing structural evaluations and inspections at construction sites, documenting observations, and preparing technical reports with recommended solutions.

The ideal candidate will have construction or field engineering experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in the field.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Solid mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently in field conditions.
• Authorized to work in the United States with a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural investigations and inspections of foundations and framing systems.
• Meet with clients at construction sites to document observations and determine their needs.
• Apply engineering principles and standards to identify cost-effective solutions.
• Evaluate construction work and verify compliance with plans and specifications.
• Prepare detailed daily reports documenting field observations and findings.
• Prepare clear technical engineering reports outlining recommended solutions.
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Research technical questions using online resources and tools.
• Exercise sound judgment and risk management in field decisions.
• Collaborate with other team members to support company growth.
