Job summary

Sonoma Land Trust in Santa Rosa, California, seeks a Stewardship Technician II to gain broad stewardship experience with a strong field component. You will work across preserves to support infrastructure, vegetation management, and restoration efforts.

The role emphasizes leading contractors and volunteers, coordinating with stewardship staff, and ensuring high-quality conservation work on SLT properties. This is a full-time, hybrid position with 40 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Relevant work experience, coursework, and training in conservation land management or related field.
• Familiarity with infrastructure assessment, maintenance, and repair (buildings, roads, fencing, water systems).
• Experience assessing property infrastructure, wildfire readiness, defensible space, and vegetation management.
• Experience implementing natural resource and wildlife habitat management activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preserve management plans, including infrastructure maintenance and wildfire readiness.
• Lead and provide direction to contractors, consultants, and volunteers.
• Inspect preserves and properties to assess conditions (roads, gates, buildings).
• Conduct facilities maintenance such as building repair and debris removal.
• Assist with Living with Fire program and prescribed burns across the county.
• Coordinate resource monitoring data collection and reporting.
• Develop and maintain relationships with tenants, contractors, and partners.
• Execute annual fee lands monitoring visits per program standards.
