Job summary

EKI Environment & Water, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Geologist to support site characterization, investigation, remediation, and construction projects in Southern California. The role involves fieldwork, data collection, report preparation, and coordination with subcontractors.

You will conduct soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and indoor air sampling, manage field activities, ensure safety, and assist senior staff with plans and budgets while traveling up to 50% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, or related field; master’s degree preferred
• 1–3 years of experience supporting environmental investigation, remediation, and construction projects
• GIT certification preferred and strong technical/machine aptitude
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding environments and adapt to field conditions
• Calibrate and troubleshoot field equipment; maintain and operate PPE
• Travel up to 50% within Southern California
• Commitment to safety and quality

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare for fieldwork, coordinating equipment, supplies and subcontractors
• Collect soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and indoor air samples and perform site inspections
• Oversee drilling, geophysical, waste disposal and other subcontractors
• Document field activities with notes, logs, and photo records
• Compile and interpret data to identify contaminant sources and exposure pathways
• Assist senior staff with work plans, reports, and cost estimates
• Follow all health and safety protocols
• Travel as required to client sites and projects
