Qualifications

  • Six months of general office clerical work, providing care for children in a licensed day care facility, sales, or public contact work.
  • One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services provider environment.
  • One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services provider environment plus two additional years in a child welfare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Completion of a full range of paraprofessional work including case management activities and assisting Child Welfare Specialists, clients, families, and other parties.
  • Schedule appointments for doctor visits, family visitations, court appearances, and other venues; arrange or provide transportation for children and clients.
  • Coordinate referrals to other program areas, service providers, and courts; assist in problem resolution and home visits to assess foster care placement as required by the court or service plans.
  • Interview clients and families and report findings impacting medical, financial, tribal, or psychiatric care plans to assigned CWS.
  • Provide administrative support tasks including inputting case documentation, compiling data, scheduling, and assisting in meetings.
  • Advise clients of available child welfare services and resources; refer to community resources as needed.
  • Assist in client meetings, obtaining other services, coordinating with law enforcement, courts, and other entities; provide reports to courts.
  • May assist in advocating for clients to obtain services and maintain communication among client, providers, and families.

Education

Six months of general office clerical work, providing care for children in licensed day care facility, sales, or public contact work

One year of clerical experience plus two additional years in child welfare environment
