Job summary

Morris and Associates in Garner, NC seeks a Field Automation Technician to support industrial refrigeration systems across customer sites. You will install, service and repair Morris heat exchangers, troubleshoot control systems, and train operators to ensure reliable operation.

The role requires up to 80% travel, strong Rockwell/Allen-Bradley software experience, and the ability to work independently in demanding environments. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • Experienced mid level refrigeration technician certified to work on ammonia and halocarbon industrial systems.
  • Proficient with Rockwell Automation software (RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME and RSLinx)
  • Familiarity with Mitsubishi HMI and PLC hardware and software
  • Experience with multiphase electrical circuits
  • Clean driving record and valid driver’s license
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers and maintain bearing during stressful events
  • Interpret electrical schematics
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision
  • Must past drug screen and background check
  • Experience with programming VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), Allen-Bradley & Mitsubishi
  • Willingness to travel often and work in less than optimum environments. Relocation not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical instruction and assistance to lower-level field service representatives regarding installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of equipment at customer installations.
  • Perform installation, service and on-site repairs of Morris heat exchangers and associated refrigeration equipment.
  • Respond to requests for emergency or troublesome equipment repairs.
  • May operate in the field or from home office to provide technical support.
  • Coordinate with project electricians, and conduct pre-installation kick-off meetings.
  • Trouble shoot via phone/on site, start-up/commissioning.
  • Train customers and operators on Morris equipment.

Job Description

Our Service Team supports our customers/partners in a range of environments. Poultry Processing Plants, Bagged Ice Facilities, Seafood Plants and Nuclear Power Plants are just a few of the environments we support. Morris has an opening for an experienced mid level refrigeration technician certified to work on both ammonia and halocarbon industrial systems. Job responsibilities include providing technical instruction and assistance to lower-level field service representatives regarding installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of equipment at customer installations. Performing installation, service and on-site repairs of Morris heat exchangers and associated refrigeration equipment. Responding to requests for emergency or troublesome equipment repairs. Must be able to work under direction and from definite objectives, referring only unusual cases to a supervisor. May operate in the field or from home office to provide technical support.

Key Responsibilities
  • This position requires up to 80% travel.
  • Simulate, test, and debug control systems on and off site
  • Assist with installation of new equipment
  • Repair equipment to Morris standard in field conditions
  • Assemble accurate reports after job completion and on equipment operation
  • Train customers and operators on Morris equipment
  • Coordinate with project electricians, as well as, conduct pre-installation kick-off meetings.
  • Trouble shooting via phone/on site, start-up/commissioning.

  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. multiple times a day
  • Ability to work on your feet up to 10 hours, exceeding 10 hours on occasion
