Job summary

Stantec seeks an Archaeological Technician to support Phase I–III fieldwork from locations in Riverview, FL; Alpharetta, GA; or Mobile, AL. The role involves extensive travel, with rotations of 5–10 days and deployments of up to three months.

Candidates should have a archaeology background, field school experience, and willingness to work in remote areas. Responsibilities include surface survey, shovel testing, and excavation, plus using ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in anthropology/archaeology or related field.
• Completion of an archaeology field school is required/beneficial.
• Experience with archaeological survey and excavation is helpful.
• Knowledge of precontact and historic material culture.
• Ability to perform physically demanding field tasks in remote areas.

Responsibilities

• Perform archaeological fieldwork tasks including controlled surface survey, shovel testing, and excavation.
• Travel to project sites; deployments up to three months; 8–10 hour work days.
• Use mapping equipment and ESRI ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 as needed.
