Job summary

ECORP Consulting is seeking a Field Archaeologist to support cultural resources projects throughout California. You will conduct monitoring, pedestrian surveys, excavation, site documentation, and other field investigations to help clients meet federal, state, and local cultural resource compliance requirements.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with project staff, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while contributing to timely project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Anthropology or Archaeology.
  • Successful completion of an archaeological field school or field methods course from a US university.

Job DetailsJob Location: Irvine Office - Irvine, CA 92617Salary Range: $24.00 - $30.00 HourlyECORP Consulting is seeking a Field Archaeologist to support cultural resources projects throughout California. In this role, you will conduct archaeological monitoring, pedestrian surveys, excavation, site documentation, and other field investigations to help clients meet federal, state, and local cultural resource compliance requirements. Working alongside experienced archaeologists and multidisciplinary project teams, you will contribute to projects that protect cultural resources while supporting successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct archaeological monitoring, surveys, site recording, excavation, and cultural resource documentation.
  • Prepare detailed field records and comprehensive reports.
  • Utilize GPS and field technology effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for cultural resources.
  • Support project teams in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
QualificationsRequired Education:
  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field.
  • Successful completion of an archaeological field school or field methods course from an accredited university in the United States.
Preferred Education:
  • Current certifications related to cultural resources fieldwork or safety training.
Required Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time professional archaeological field experience.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience conducting archaeological monitoring for construction projects.
  • Familiarity with California cultural resources regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience using GPS units, GIS applications, and digital field recording tools.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated experience with archaeological monitoring, survey, excavation, and site recording methods.
  • Ability to maintain accurate field records and documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Starting salary is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications/permits, geographic location, internal equity and market conditions. Bachelor's Degree wage range is $24-$27/hour. Master's Degree in Anthropology and Registered Professional Archaeologists' wage range starts at $30/hour.
