Qualifications

  • Familiarity with field methods and GPS, GIS tools is preferred.
  • Previous archaeology experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Phase I, II, and III archaeological projects across the US.
  • Travel to various locations for fieldwork lasting from 1 to 30 days.

Job description

As a Field Archaeologist for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will work on a variety of projects, including:

  1. Phase I archaeological surveys
  2. Phase II evaluations
  3. Phase III mitigation projects

You will have the opportunity to travel across various US regions and be part of a team navigating complex environmental regulatory landscapes, assisting our clients with Cultural Resource compliance under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

The typical duration of fieldwork varies from 1-7 days, with larger projects lasting 20-30 days. If you enjoy the outdoors, have an inquisitive mind, and are not afraid to get dirty, this is an excellent opportunity for you.

Qualifications:
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field
  • Ability to speak and write professionally
  • Previous archaeology experience, including internships or field school, is preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with archaeological field methods, GPS devices, data collectors/total stations, and GIS is preferred
