Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Field Application Scientist to join our North American commercial team. This customer-facing role serves as a trusted scientific advisor to academic, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and clinical research customers using advanced mass spectrometry-based workflows.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in proteomics with a strong interest in supporting customers, solving technical challenges, developing workflows, and communicating complex scientific concepts. Experience in metabolomics or lipidomics is beneficial but not required.

As a key member of the Field Applications team, you will collaborate closely with Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and R&D to support customer success, accelerate technology adoption, and contribute to business growth. You will support an integrated portfolio focused primarily on proteomics, while also supporting metabolomics and lipidomics applications across sample preparation. This position is remote and is based out of the western US.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Success and Workflow Support
  • Serve as a trusted scientific advisor, educating and consulting with customers on the effective use of our products and integrated workflows, including experimental design, sample preparation, LC-MS workflows, data quality assessment, and initial data interpretation.
  • Troubleshoot workflow challenges and recommend best practices to support successful project outcomes.
  • Deliver customer training through on-site visits, virtual meetings, workshops, and seminars.
Scientific Support for Commercial Activities
  • Partner with Account Managers throughout the sales process to understand customer research objectives, recommend appropriate workflow solutions, and provide scientific and technical expertise.
  • Deliver scientific presentations, product demonstrations, and technical discussions that clearly communicate the value and appropriate application of our solutions.
  • Plan and support customer evaluations, proof‑of‑concept studies, and initial workflow implementation to enable successful technology adoption.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product Management, and R&D to support new product introductions and strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of application notes, training materials, webinars, scientific presentations, and other customer-facing content.
  • Represent the voice of the customer by communicating workflow challenges, market needs, emerging trends, and opportunities for product improvement to internal stakeholders.
Scientific Leadership and Market Engagement
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, core facilities, and strategic research accounts.
  • Represent the company at scientific conferences, user meetings, workshops, and other industry events.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, competitive solutions, and scientific trends in proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics.
Required Qualifications
  • PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related scientific discipline, with doctoral research focused on mass spectrometry-based proteomics; or an MS with substantial directly relevant proteomics experience.
  • Hands-on experience developing, optimizing, and applying LC-MS/MS-based proteomics workflows.
  • Strong understanding of proteomics sample preparation, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry instrumentation, and data analysis.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently in a customer‑facing, field‑based environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% throughout North America.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with metabolomics and/or lipidomics workflows.
  • Experience across a broad range of proteomics workflows and applications.
  • Experience with Bruker TimsTOFs and Thermo Orbitraps.
  • Experience working with plasma, other biofluids, tissue, or similarly complex biological samples.
  • Previous experience in a field applications, technical support, scientific consulting, or other customer-facing scientific role.
  • Experience working in or supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic research, or core facility environments.
