Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Field Applications Engineer to support embedded systems in automotive and industrial markets. You will deliver premium technical support, lead design-in campaigns, and coordinate PoCs and demonstrations to secure solutions for customers.

Role requires deep knowledge of C/C++, RTOS, embedded Linux, and SoC interfaces, with travel up to 30% within the continental US. You will work closely with sales and engineering teams to translate customer needs into compelling

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years in development engineering or embedded systems.
  • Minimum 5 years Field Application Engineering in the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience with C and C++ and embedded firmware development.
  • Knowledge of SoC hardware interfaces (Ethernet, PCIe, MIPI, USB 2.0/3.0, LP DDR5, low-speed IO).
  • Knowledge of ARM Cortex A/M architectures and RTOS.
  • Embedded Linux knowledge: kernel and user-space, u-boot.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver premium technical support and drive design wins in target accounts.
  • Lead PoCs, solution design and demonstrations to secure design-ins for NXP solutions.
  • Synthesize customer insights to improve product roadmaps and definitions.
  • Direct design-in campaigns to ensure early involvement in customers’ roadmaps.
  • Communicate ecosystem solutions to position NXP advantageously.
  • Qualify sales opportunities with customer technical requirements and competitive analysis.
  • Own system software architect role to convey software value in proposals.
  • Build relationships with sales, partners and customers to support sales objectives.
  • Travel up to 30% within continental US.
  • Provide technical training to field staff and distributors.
  • Develop system-level knowledge of automotive and industrial targets.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Deliver premium technical support in content and time to assigned customers
  • Accountable to drive design wins in their target accounts and target technology
  • Leads proof of concept, solution design and demonstrations to secure NXP solution’s design-in
  • Synthesizes customer and competitive insights to improve product definition and roadmaps
  • Direct the NXP design-in campaigns for assigned customers to ensure early involvement in the customer’s technology roadmap and timely flow of information to all necessary parties within NXP and customer
  • Understand and communicate how ecosystem solutions can position NXP in the best possible manner
  • Qualifies sales opportunities in terms of customer technical requirements and establishes NXP's value proposition/position relative to the competition
  • Qualifies the value of NXP’s products (strengths versus competitive products) and quantifies the technical benefits derived from choosing NXP
  • Own the system software architect role to ensure broader technical team understands the software value proposition for system proposals
  • Successfully build relationships with sales team members, business lines, partners and customers in support of sales team objectives
  • Analyze customer's technical objectives through the use of relevant data gathering techniques enabling the sales team to be more predictive, effective and responsive to customer needs
  • Assist in educating Field Sales Engineers on new technologies, new product features and their related business value
  • Develops system level knowledge of target application spaces in Automotive and Industrial vertical markets
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years development engineering or applications support of microprocessor based embedded systems
  • Minimum 5 yrs Field Application Engineering experience in the semiconductor industry
  • Experience with C and C++ and a record of developing embedded firmware
  • Demonstrated knowledge of typical SoC hardware interfaces (Ethernet, PCIe, MIPI, LP DDR5, USB2.0/3.0, and low speed IO protocols)
  • Knowledge of Medical, Industrial or IoT system applications
  • Knowledge of ARM Cortex A and Cortex M based architectures and register programming models, and RTOS
  • Knowledge in embedded Linux is essential: kernel and user-space and uboot environments
  • Hands on knowledge of graphics and video subsystems and related software drivers helpful
  • Knowledge of Edge AI applications deployment is beneficial; familiarity with Tensorflow Lite, ONNX, a plus
  • Ability to read, understand and review schematics and provide design recommendations required
  • Willing to travel up to 30% within continental US
  • Experienced in providing technical training to sales staff and distributors
  • Proven track record of quickly learning new technologies
  • Develop system level understanding of target end-applications.
