Field Application Specialist(Clinical Genomics) Global Business Development & Customer Engagement

Location: Remote

Position: Type: Full-Time | [Travel Required: ~30-50%]


Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Genomics Application Specialist to support the sales and adoption of our clinical genomics products and services, including NGS data analysis, interpretation, and clinical reporting solutions. The ideal candidate will act as the technical bridge between our commercial team and customers, working closely with sales, product, and R&D teams to drive customer success and revenue growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical expert and trusted advisor for clinical genomics products and services during pre-sales and post-sales engagements.
  • Deliver product presentations, software demos, and hands-on training to clinical customers (e.g., hospitals, genetic testing labs, CROs).
  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs, develop customized solutions, and help close deals.
  • Provide technical consultation on genomic workflows, including sample-to-report pipelines, variant interpretation, and compliance (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, CAP/CLIA).
  • Guide prospective customers through evaluation and onboarding phases, ensuring proper integration and adoption.
  • Partner with product management and marketing to feed customer insights into product development and messaging.
  • Attend industry conferences, workshops, and customer visits to support business development and customer education.
  • Contribute to scientific content (e.g., whitepapers, application notes, webinars).

Qualifications:

  • PhD or MS in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Field Application Scientist, technical support, or sales support role in a genomics or life sciences company.
  • Strong understanding of NGS technologies, clinical genomics workflows, and data interpretation/reporting platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as GATK, BWA, VEP, IGV, and clinical databases (e.g., ClinVar, HGMD, OMIM).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to explain complex genomic concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Customer-focused with a proactive, collaborative approach.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including internationally.
