Job description

Field Application Scientist – Immunoassays & Protein Bioanalysis

Invenia has partnered with an established, growing life sciences company to hire a Field Application Scientist supporting customers across The Carolinas & Tennessee.

This could suit an experienced FAS, but previous field applications experience is not essential. We are also interested in scientists currently working in academia, biotech, pharma or CRO environments who have strong hands‑on immunoassay experience and want to move into a customer-facing scientific career.

Location: Ideally Research Triangle Park / North Carolina

Why Join?

  • Join a stable, profitable and growing life sciences company
  • Work with an established technology used extensively across pharma, biotech and academia
  • Extensive, structured technical and commercial training
  • Strong team culture with experienced FAS colleagues to learn from
  • Genuine opportunities for long-term career development and internal progression
  • Regional territory supporting just two Account Managers

What Will You Do?

You’ll act as a scientific partner to customers using advanced multiplex immunoassay and bioanalysis platforms.

This includes:

  • Training scientists on instrumentation, assays, software and data analysis
  • Troubleshooting assay performance and helping customers optimise workflows
  • Supporting customers developing and validating their own assays
  • Working across applications including immunology, oncology, neuroscience, metabolic disease, PK, toxicology and more
  • Providing scientific consultation to pharma, biotech, CRO and academic customers
  • Delivering scientific presentations, seminars and customer training
  • Partnering with Account Managers on evaluations, new opportunities and customer adoption
  • Representing the company at scientific meetings and conferences

What Are We Looking For?

Most importantly, you need to be technically strong in immunoassays.

  • PhD in Life Sciences, or MSc/BSc with equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of hands‑on laboratory experience
  • Strong understanding of immunoassay principles and assay development
  • Experience independently troubleshooting, optimising and/or validating assays
  • Strong scientific fundamentals and problem‑solving ability
  • Someone who genuinely enjoys teaching and talking about science
  • Able to explain complex science clearly to different audiences
  • Personable, curious and comfortable building relationships with customers
  • Calm and professional when helping customers troubleshoot problems

Previous FAS, applications or technical support experience is advantageous, but not required.

Strong scientists with the right communication skills and motivation to move into a commercial, customer‑facing environment are encouraged to apply.

If you enjoy the science but want to move beyond a purely bench‑based role, this is an excellent opportunity to build a long‑term career in Field Applications.
