Job summary

Delta Electronics Americas is seeking a Field Application Engineer (IPS) in Plano, TX, to act as the technical expert for three-phase and single-phase UPS, AiO, PCS, and BESS solutions. The role partners with Sales, PM, Engineering and Service to support solution design, integration, and commissioning across customer sites.

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years in critical power, strong knowledge of LV/MV electrical systems, and can travel up to 30% across North America to support customers, demos

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–5+ years supporting UPS, PCS, AiO, BESS, power distribution, or critical power infrastructure.
  • Experience with three-phase and single-phase electrical systems and mission-critical power applications.
  • Knowledge of low- and medium-voltage electrical systems (120V–690V).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical expert for IPS portfolio, including UPS, PCS, AiO, BESS, PDUs, and STS.
  • Support the sales team by providing technical presentations, product demonstrations, solution recommendations, and application engineering.
  • Assist customers with system sizing, electrical design, power distribution, redundancy (N, N+1, 2N), battery runtime calculations, and system integration.
  • Support commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, FAT/SAT, and post-installation technical support.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, R&D, and Global Engineering to improve products and resolve customer issues.
  • Develop technical documentation and deliver training for customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Travel up to 30% throughout North America for customer support, commissioning, and training.

Key Responsibilities

The Field Application Engineer (FAE) – Intelligent Power Systems (IPS) serves as the primary technical resource supporting Delta's portfolio of three-phase and single-phase UPS systems, All-in-One (AiO) power solutions, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and power distribution solutions. This customer‑facing role partners with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Service teams to support solution design, product integration, commissioning, and technical support throughout the customer lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has experience with critical power infrastructure, electrical distribution, and mission‑critical applications within data centers, telecommunications, industrial, and commercial environments.

  • Serve as the technical expert for Delta's IPS portfolio, including UPS, PCS, AiO, BESS, PDUs, and Static Transfer Switches (STS).
  • Support the sales team by providing technical presentations, product demonstrations, solution recommendations, and application engineering.
  • Assist customers with system sizing, electrical design, power distribution, redundancy (N, N+1, 2N), battery runtime calculations, and system integration.
  • Support commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, factory/site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), and post‑installation technical support.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, R&D, and Global Engineering to improve products and resolve customer issues.
  • Develop technical documentation and deliver training for customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Travel up to 30% throughout North America for customer support, commissioning, and training.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education

    • Bachelor's/Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.

    Experience

    • 3–5+ years supporting UPS systems, PCS, AiO solutions, BESS, power distribution, or critical power infrastructure.
    • Experience with three-phase and single-phase electrical systems and mission‑critical power applications.
    • Knowledge of low- and medium‑voltage electrical systems (120V–690V).

    Technical Skills

    • Strong understanding of:
      • Three-phase and single‑phase UPS systems
      • Power Conversion Systems (PCS)
      • All‑in‑One (AiO) power solutions
      • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
      • Power quality and electrical distribution
      • Battery technologies (VRLA and Lithium‑Ion)
      • One‑line diagrams, load calculations, and redundancy architectures
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting data centers, AI infrastructure, telecommunications, healthcare, or industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of PDUs, RPPs, STS, rack power distribution, and energy storage integration.
  • Familiarity with IEEE, NEC, UL, and NFPA standards.
  • Mandarin language skills are a plus.
