Job summary

Avnet, a global Fortune 500 technology distributor, seeks an AMD Xilinx dedicated Field Application Engineer to join our technical sales team. You will drive Xilinx initiatives, lead design-win strategies, and build trusted relationships with key accounts while delivering technical proposals and demos to illustrate our value proposition.

We require extensive FPGA/SoC knowledge, experience with Vivado/Vitis/Quartus, and a strong background in embedded processing.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with system-level FPGA/ASIC design tools including Vivado, Vitis, ISE or Quartus; ModelSim is a plus.
  • Ability to identify customer priorities and contribute to sales outcomes.
  • Familiarity with customer end products and market requirements.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
  • Confident presentation skills and ability to collaborate across groups.
  • Clear communication across high-level topics and deep technical discussions.
  • Strong organizational abilities, multitasking, prioritization, and tracking multiple activities.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Experience designing with AMD Xilinx FPGAs/SoCs including Versal, Virtex, Kintex, Artix, Spartan, RFSoC, Zynq UltraScale+, and Zynq-7000.
  • Knowledge of embedded design environments such as Vivado, Vitis, IP Integrator, Intel Altera Quartus, and Eclipse-based development tools.
  • Understanding of FPGA/SoC board design considerations including power delivery, thermal dissipation, high-speed interfaces, and debug.
  • Experience with high-performance memory interface controllers and related protocols.
  • Experience with FPGA-based high-speed serial transceivers.
  • Embedded processing knowledge including x86 and ARM architectures, Linux, Yocto, BSPs, drivers, and debugging tools.
  • Typically 8+ years of relevant experience with a bachelors degree or equivalent, and this is a senior-level sales role.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and coordinate Xilinx technical initiatives for key customers in partnership with the dedicated AMD Xilinx Technical Sales Engineer.
  • Provide technical leadership focused on design-win strategies for customer opportunities.
  • Build trusted relationships with systems engineers and architects within our assigned key accounts.
  • Develop the technical portion of strategy proposals for major customer programs.
  • Apply our understanding of customer challenges to guide the best use of Xilinx IP, software tools, and hardware devices.
  • Manage technical support issues within the customer base and involve AMD Xilinx specialists when needed to resolve software, IP, design closure, RTL, simulation, bring-up, and debug issues.
  • Collaborate with field and factory resources to create and deliver technical proposals aligned with customer needs.
  • Lead technical solution development, including hardware and software demos and example designs, to demonstrate our value proposition.
  • Work with third-party ecosystem partners to support mutually beneficial custom solutions where applicable.
  • Attend internal and external AMD Xilinx technical training and maintain required certifications.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.
