Job description

Mach builds production-ready autonomy for the world's toughest off-road environments. We help equipment manufacturers bring autonomous and semi-autonomous machines to market across agriculture, construction, mining, defense, and other industries. Our technology combines perception, navigation, planning, controls, connectivity, and operator tools to help heavy equipment work safely and consistently in the real world.

Position

Mach is looking for a Field Application Engineer to help customers evaluate, configure, and integrate Mach products. This is a hands-on technical role spanning customer setups, demonstrations, proposal support, and clear product documentation.

You will work with sales, customers, and engineering to turn application needs into workable product configurations and well-defined technical handoffs. The focus is customer-specific product work, with product changes and roadmap decisions coordinated through the product engineering team.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Understand the customer's application, interfaces, and operating needs; configure and troubleshoot product setups and support customer integration.
  • Prepare technical inputs for proposals and coordinate product quotes using approved pricing, configurations, and commercial terms; confirm assumptions before information goes to the customer.
  • Track quote revisions, customer technical questions, and follow-up actions in CRM so proposals and integration work have clear next steps.
  • Create and maintain product manuals, setup instructions, and interface documentation that help customers use and integrate Mach products.
  • Support product validation activities, including preparing test setups, executing defined test procedures, documenting results, identifying issues, and working with engineering to verify fixes.
  • Support trade show preparation, technical materials, lead capture, and post-event follow-up so event conversations become actionable opportunities.
  • Prepare and run product demonstrations with sales and engineering; explain product capabilities, integration requirements, and known limitations.
  • Support order and technical handoffs, documenting agreed configurations and escalating product changes or unresolved engineering issues to the appropriate owner.
Ideal Experience

The ideal candidate brings experience in several of the following areas:

  • Sales engineering, applications engineering, technical customer support, or systems integration for business-to-business technology products.
  • Configuring technical products, troubleshooting customer setups, and explaining integration requirements to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Preparing technical proposals, product manuals, setup instructions, or interface documentation.
  • Supporting trade shows, customer events, product demonstrations, or lead qualification.
Requirements for Success
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with a professional, responsive approach to customer interactions.
  • Strong attention to detail when handling configurations, interfaces, technical documentation, quotes, and customer requirements.
  • Reliable follow-through and the ability to manage several customer setups and opportunities without losing track of commitments.
  • Hands-on technical problem-solving and good judgment about what can be resolved with existing products and when product engineering needs to be involved.
  • A collaborative approach that respects approved pricing and terms and avoids making unsupported product or delivery commitments.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with equipment manufacturers, industrial technology, robotics, or off-road machinery.
  • Experience supporting component or technology product sales through direct customers or channel partners.
  • Experience with Odoo or a comparable CRM, quote-to-order workflows, or technical sales materials.
Position Specifics
  • Job Type: Full-Time
  • Location: on-site, Ely, Iowa or Finksburg, Maryland office
  • Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per year, dependent on experience and qualifications
  • Travel: Approximately 30%–50%, with occasional periods of travel up to 60% based on customer and project needs.
  • Generous vacation and PTO
  • 10+ paid holidays
  • 75% company-sponsored Health plan
  • Dental, Vision, and 401k available
  • Equity incentive package
Other Requirements
  • 2+ years experience in robotics, autonomy or equivalent hands-on experience in related field
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card Holder)
  • Ability to pass a background check
