Reporting To

Sales Support Manager - Technical Sales

Role and Responsibilities

This role offers the opportunity to plan and execute proactive promotional activities for the target audience to generate market demand for specific features or products. Daily responsibilities include identifying and developing sales opportunities by introducing, presenting, and educating customers about ABB products and tools, and building long-term customer relationships.

The work model is remote, based in the San Diego, Orange County CA district.

You will mainly be responsible for:

  1. Collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to define project needs, provide design assistance, product selection, value engineering, and education on ABB solutions to influence project specifications.
  2. Assessing project specifications and customer requirements to deliver electrical solutions, including diagrams, layouts, equipment specifications, and project budgets for Low and Medium Voltage applications.
  3. Developing accurate electrical project estimates and budgets, incorporating best practices.
  4. Providing local support for products such as MV/LV switchgear, transformers, motor control, UPS, ATS, PSG, and generator circuit breakers.
  5. Applying knowledge of short circuit, coordination, and arc flash mitigation concepts, and illustrating their benefits using tools like SKM or Easy Power.
  6. Creating and editing presentations for Lunch & Learns and utilizing SFDC regularly.
  7. Educating customers and confidently presenting complex technical concepts to engineers, contractors, and users.
  8. Sharing feedback on market trends, product gaps, and new opportunities with leadership, acting as a Product Champion.
  9. Willingness to travel approximately 25% and visit customers locally.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field, with at least three years of experience in electrical distribution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of resolving technical issues considering multiple viewpoints.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Enjoys problem-solving and developing new customer relationships.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and able to work independently without detailed instructions.
  • Effective multitasking on projects and assignments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
  • Ability to establish partnerships with regional engineering consulting communities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in field, plant, or design engineering within electrical power systems at major oil and gas companies, utilities, or industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, NFPA 70E, UL.
