Job summary

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is seeking candidates for an Animal Control role in Florida. Under general supervision, you will enforce laws related to animal control, respond to complaints, inspect and impound animals, and testify in court when required.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and at least six months of customer service experience. Some prior law enforcement or military exposure is preferred, and candidates must pass medical and background screenings.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED.
• Minimum 6 months of customer service experience handling complaints and resolving issues.
• Additional education may substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Responds to animal-related complaints and enforces county ordinances.
• Investigates animal bites, quarantines animals, and tests rabies symptoms.
• Handles and impounds dangerous or nuisance animals and testifies in court.
• Provides emergency first aid and may perform euthanization as required.
• Drives animal transport vehicles and maintains related equipment.
• Maintains records and prepares investigative reports for legal use.
• Work may include weekend, holiday, and 24-hour call duties.
