City of DeSoto seeks an Animal Control Officer to perform reception and fieldwork, dispatching messages, investigating animal-related complaints, and enforcing animal control codes.

Responsibilities include patrolling for stray animals, capturing and transporting animals, maintaining reports, and advising the public on responsible ownership. Requires HS diploma, TX Animal Control certification, and valid driver’s license.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of related work experience in animal control or related field.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Valid Texas Basic Animal Control Certification within a year of hire.
• Valid Euthanasia Certification within a year of hire.

Responsabilidades

• Responds to reports concerning animal issues and enforcment of ordinances.
• Interprets and enforces animal control regulations; conducts investigations and issues citations.
• Patrols city to locate stray animals and address violations.
• Captures/Impasses animals and transports to shelter or veterinarian.
• Processes captured animals and checks for signs of disease; quarantines when needed.
• Advises citizens on animal ownership responsibilities and procedures.
• Assists with preparing animal-related cases for arrest and trial; testifies in court.
