Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa (CCMI) is seeking a Crew Leader for AmeriCorps Field Crews to lead outdoor habitat restoration, trail work, and resource management projects across IA and MN. The term runs 01/15/2027 to 12/15/2027, with a full-time schedule and diverse outdoor assignments.

Participants gain hands-on conservation skills, leadership experience, and an education award upon completion; basic benefits include childcare assistance and health coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18
• Outdoor field work experience preferred
• Willingness to commit to term dates

Responsibilities

• Restore habitat and manage natural resources as part of field crews
• Assist in trail construction, maintenance, tree planting, and related tasks
• Support emergency response and disaster relief activities when required
• Follow safety procedures and wear uniforms as provided

Member Duties:

AmeriCorps Field Crews serve outdoors restoring habitat, managing natural resources, and occasionally responding to natural disasters or community needs. The Field Crew program prioritizes personal and professional growth while teaching hands-on conservation skills in the field. Members develop technical skills throughout their term while completing challenging and impactful conservation projects. Natural resources projects vary by region and crew location, but may include:

• Invasive species management
• Stream bank stabilization, erosion control
• Prescribed burning
• Trail construction & maintenance
• Tree planting
• Basic carpentry
• Wild land fire suppression
• Emergency response
