Job summary

Bayer in Wisconsin seeks a Field Associate to contribute to an R&D field trial program for corn and soybeans. You will coordinate growers, supervise seasonal staff, and conduct in-season research activities, partnering to improve data quality and SOPs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, data-management skills, equipment operation, and up to 15% travel. Expect long peak-season hours, safe vehicle operation, and adherence to Bayer’s safety and ethics standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required by start date.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to work with connected systems and data management.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team-based environment.
  • Ability to learn and operate research agriculture equipment, including precision agriculture technology.
  • Knowledge or ability to learn region-specific crop production and farming practices.
  • Knowledge of basic statistical analysis and experimental design principles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a driver’s license for medium to heavy vehicle operation (>10,000 lbs).
  • Ability to obtain Pesticide Applicators License and RPAS drone pilot’s license (FAA Part 107).
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work extended hours in field conditions.
  • Ability to work in variable temperatures in field/greenhouse settings.
  • Capable of long hours during peak field season.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of the research program in line with HSE, Quality, Compliance and Ethics standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver detailed experimental protocols enabling decisions by scientists and customers.
  • Operate research equipment, take notes, and manage data with IT systems.
  • Collect, analyze, and deliver data on agronomic traits during the growing season.
  • Self-motivate, problem solve, and manage time and priorities effectively.
  • Build networks across diverse teams and communities, including growers and local leaders.
  • Supervise third-party labor to meet trial objectives.
  • Communicate across teams with flexibility and a learning mindset.
  • Support career development aligned with Bayer’s LIFE values.
