Job description

A well-established national law firm is seeking an entry-level to junior associate (0–2 years of experience) to join its Private Client practice, with a focus on fiduciary litigation and estate planning. This position provides the opportunity to work with high-net-worth clients on sophisticated wealth transfer plans and complex estate and trust administration matters, while also participating in fiduciary litigation. The role is remote but based in the Chicago, Illinois area, and is part of a nationally recognized tax team.

Duties

Assist with fiduciary litigation involving trusts and estates

Draft, implement, and manage complex wealth transfer strategies for high-net-worth individuals

Support the administration of large and complex estates and trusts

Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and related documents

Collaborate with attorneys in related tax, estate, and trust matters

Participate in internal and client meetings and contribute to strategy development

Requirements

0–2 years of experience in fiduciary litigation, estate planning, or related legal areas

Interest or demonstrated commitment to working in private client, tax, or fiduciary law

High level of attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

Strong organizational and time management skills

Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team

Education

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

LLM in Taxation or Estate Planning is a plus but not required

Certifications

Licensed to practice law in Illinois or eligible for admission

Salary Range (Illinois): $180,000 – $205,000 (based on experience)

Bonuses: Discretionary merit-based bonuses and eligibility for fee splits

Billable Expectation: 1800 billable hours annually, plus contributions to:

75 hours of pro bono or public service (or 50 hours of pro bono legal work)
