Job summary

Radiology Forward seeks a Fibroscan Technician to join our team dedicated to patient care and quality imaging. You will greet patients, prepare them for imaging, verify orders, and maintain strict privacy and accuracy across PACS, RIS and MDM systems.

You will also support referrals, coordinate with radiologists, and help grow imaging services through community outreach while adhering to safety protocols and HIPAA policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Medical training program with medical and anatomy terminology is preferred.
  • Certified medical assistant and/or IV certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and escort through procedures to prevent entry into restricted areas.
  • Explain preparation to patients prior to procedures and verify orders.
  • Ensure patient demographics are verified per policy with two identifiers.
  • Operate PACS, RIS, MDM and SPARK systems and maintain privacy.
  • Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures while maintaining modesty and dignity.
  • Maintain accurate imaging data and ensure timely reporting to physicians.

You Will:

Greet patients with a smile, properly introduce self and escort the patient through procedures to prevent entry into unauthorized or restricted areas of facility and to protect the patient.
Explain proper preparation to patient prior to procedure and verify appropriate patient RX or verbal order (VO) pertinent to examinations ordered.
Verify patient demographics in accordance with RRC's HIPAA/PHI policy using two identifiers to confirm patient name, address, DOB, phone numbers, and referring physicians first and last name and physician’s address.
Ensure patient history is completed with appropriate information per history sheet for exam scheduled.
Operate and understand all computer systems, including PACS, RIS, MDM and SPARK (instant messaging).
Prepare and position patient for imaging procedures, ensure patient modesty, confidentiality, and privacy.
Communicate effectively with referrals to ensure prompt and accurate ordering, completion of exam, and reporting via fax, written and verbal means.
Maintain patient care standards to ensure reliable and accurate imaging and quality patient care via direct contact with staff and personal hands-on care.
Ability to navigate through the RRC Informer to access technical protocols, commonly used forms, required annual training, and radiologist’s schedules.
Contribute to and maintain good working rapport with all patients, personnel, physicians, and radiologists to ensure that the organization's objectives can effectively meet the needs of patients and physicians.
Assure that patient rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, and civil rights are maintained.
Maintain confidentiality of all classified and sensitive information and records, including patient care information, salary, wages, and benefits.
Contribute to an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis throughout the organization.
Assure formal introduction of self by name to all patients and address patient by name in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. Assure treatment of all patients with warmth, dignity, and consideration.
Follow established policies and procedures including safety and precautions.
Report all unsafe, hazardous conditions, and defective equipment to supervisor immediately.
Assure that assignment areas are maintained in a neat, safe, clean, and orderly fashion. Assist with laundry of patient gowns, sheets, and other linens.
Assist with quality control duties and assignments as required.
Attend and participate in in-service educational classes, seminars, staff meetings, and on-the-job training programs as required.
Market to referring physician offices, patients, and other potential clients to grow the company services as assigned. Distribute marketing brochures to promote growth of imaging services and referral sources. Represent the organization to the community in a positive manner. Act as a liaison between organization, patients, and referrals to ensure open communication and problem solving.
Perform other related duties within the job classification or organization as necessary or as assigned by a radiologist, staff technologist, center manager, or technical director.
Ensure the Fibroscan is certified, maintained and that all results from the Fibroscan are captured.
Perform Fibroscan on patients for studies.
Responsible for the maintenance of the equipment to ensure accurate results.
Track and capture any results and ensure data is available for diagnosis.
Ensure all patient details are captured for diagnosis.

To Ensure Success in This Role, You Must Have:
  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • BLS certification Required.
  • Medical training program that included medical and anatomy terminology preferred.
  • Certified medical assistant and/or IV certified preferred.
