Job summary

Latham, The Pool Company in the United States is seeking a Mold Build Technician to construct molds used in fiberglass pool production. This role ensures molds meet exact specifications, are structurally sound, and safe for production; you will collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams.

The ideal candidate has fiberglass fabrication experience, can read technical drawings, and works carefully with resins and tools.

Qualifications

• Experience in fiberglass fabrication or composites preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, templates, and specifications.
• Familiarity with sanding, spraying, grinding, and hand lay‑up techniques preferred.
• Ability to work safely with chemicals, resins, and fiberglass materials.
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Build new molds based on engineering drawings, templates, and specifications.
• Prepare plug surfaces and apply mold-release agents, gel coat, fiberglass layers, and resin systems.
• Use hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, and measuring devices to perform fabrication tasks.
• Install bracing, supports, and frameworks to ensure mold rigidity and longevity.
• Ensure molds are dimensionally accurate and structurally reinforced as required.
• Inspect molds for cracks, wear, defects, or delamination.
• May perform repairs including patching, resurfacing, sanding, polishing, and re-gel-coating.
• Ensure all materials are mixed and applied correctly.
• Participates in mold release testing, surface finishing, and final quality inspections before molds are released into production.
• Follow all safety procedures related to fiberglass, resins, solvents, PPE, and equipment.
• Adhere to company quality standards and conduct inspections.

Job Summary

The Mold Build Technician is responsible for constructing molds used in the production of fiberglass swimming pools. This role ensures molds are built to precise specifications, structurally sound. The technician works closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to ensure molds are safe, reliable, and meet all quality and safety standards

Salary Range: $26.81 - $27.96
