Viaero Fiber is hiring a Utility Locator to locate and mark underground fiber optic lines in the Grand Island, Nebraska area. You will identify utilities, document findings, and coordinate standby requirements with project managers.

This full-time field role requires driving, physical endurance, map-reading skills, and strict safety compliance. You must pass drug and background checks and maintain a clean driving record for site access.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license with a clean MVR.
• Must pass a drug screen in a safety-sensitive position.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Proficient in operating utility locating equipment and computer systems.
• Ability to interpret maps, blueprints, and construction plans; proficient in Google Earth.
• High accuracy and precision in marking utilities and documenting information.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Effective verbal and written communication with contractors and staff.
• Willingness to be on a rotating on-call schedule including evenings and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground fiber optic lines using specialized locating equipment.
• Mark locations with flags, paint, or stakes for excavation crews.
• Record accurate data on locations, depths, and observations in electronic systems.
• Perform pre-construction site surveys and coordinate with stakeholders for safe excavations.
• Communicate locations and risks to contractors, property owners, and project managers.
• Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE in the field.
