Job summary

Heartland Solutions, a Fibercom division of Heartland Tower Solutions, is seeking an Underground Locator/Operator based in Indiana with travel to sites across the region. You will lead bore crews, read prints, markups, plan equipment needs, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

The role requires experience in fiber outside plant construction, strong attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with the Foreman on daily targets.

Qualifications

• Able to climb poles and work from aerial buckets
• Experience in fiber outside plant construction or related fiber/cable work
• Ability to read and interpret construction prints, plans, and specs
• Ability to travel for projects and adapt to field conditions
• Strong attention to detail and safety-minded
• Able to multi-task and manage time effectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead Directional Bore crew and train new hires
• Read blueprints and permits; ensure compliance with laws and permits
• Prepare bore path and markups; plan equipment and material needs
• Supervise equipment setup, rig and fluid mixing, and safety procedures
• Operate DCI tracking systems and locate required utilities
• Maintain professional appearance and uphold company standards
• Coordinate with Foreman on project progress and material needs
• Work on customer properties with high professionalism and safety
• Ensure installation work meets quality standards and OSHA requirements
• Be prepared to stand-in for Foreman when required
• Repair and restore work areas to project specs
• Communicate field issues and delays to keep schedule on track
• Follow all company policies and procedures; maintain safe job sites
• Keep vehicles and equipment in good working order
• Support other crew members and adapt to changing tasks
