Responsibilities

• Install, route, dress, terminate, and label structured cabling systems (Cat5e/6/6A).
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber optic infrastructure.
• Read blueprints, port maps and technical specifications.
• Perform rack-and-stack, patch panel installation, grounding and bonding as required.
• Document testing results and remediation activities.
• Perform copper and fiber testing and certification using appropriate equipment.

Job description

We are seeking skilled Infrastructure Technicians II and III to support the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of critical infrastructure systems at a major data center project in Abilene, TX.

This is a hands-on opportunity for technicians with experience in structured cabling, fiber optics, low-voltage systems, and data center infrastructure. Depending on your experience level, you will contribute to complex installations, ensure quality and safety standards are met, and help maintain reliable connectivity across critical environments.

What You’ll Do

Structured Cabling & Infrastructure Installation

• Install, route, dress, terminate, and label structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A copper cabling.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber optic infrastructure, including single-mode and multimode fiber.
• Install cable trays, ladder racks, cable pathways, cabinets, racks, patch panels, and other infrastructure components.
• Support the construction and buildout of MDF/IDF rooms, telecommunications closets, and network infrastructure spaces.
• Perform rack-and-stack activities, patch panel installation, equipment mounting, grounding, and bonding as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, port maps, and technical specifications.

Fiber Optics, Testing & Troubleshooting

• Terminate, test, certify, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling.
• Use fiber testing equipment, including OTDRs, visual fault locators (VFLs), and other fiber diagnostic tools.
• Perform copper certification testing using Fluke DSX testers, including the DSX-8000 where applicable.
• Identify and resolve cabling issues, connectivity failures, and installation deficiencies.
• Document testing results, labeling, port assignments, and remediation activities.
• Perform fiber fusion splicing and ribbon fiber splicing when required by the project and consistent with experience level.
