Job summary

Zito Media is seeking a full-time Fiber Technician to learn the trade of installing fiber optic cables within Zito Media’s fiber networks and related equipment to maximize operating efficiency.

Responsibilities include using standard tools to route cable, install equipment, and communicate effectively with customers and staff. The role requires willingness to work on-call, outdoors in all weather, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid state driver’s license with excellent driving record.
  • Available for on-call and after-hours call out.
  • Able to climb ladders up to 40 feet and carry up to 100 lbs multiple times daily.
  • Willing to travel to other systems if needed.
  • Sufficient visual and aural acuity to operate testing equipment.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.

Description

Zito is looking for a full-time Fiber Technician to learn the trade of installing fiber optic cables within Zito Media’s fiber optic networks and their related equipment with the end goal of providing maximum operating efficiency.

Preferred Skills
  • Basic Knowledge or willingness to learn premise entry and electronic equipment installation.
  • Basic Knowledge or willingness to learn the technologies and standards as they apply to the installation of fiber optic networks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other staff.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, within broad guidelines of procedures and goals, able to apply technical expertise to a variety of situations, evaluating problems and implementing the best solutions.
  • Work well under pressure and deadline environments.
  • Friendly, patient, basic courtesy, diplomatic abilities and a pleasant demeanor.
  • Basic computer troubleshooting to include email and MS Office.
  • Prior experience in a service environment preferred.

  • Able to work a variety of schedules in order to provide needed coverage, for both normal duty and on-call duty.
  • Sufficient visual and aural acuity to operate a variety of standard test and measurement equipment.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned or as become evident up to and including travel to other systems if needed.
