Job summary

Advanced Electric Systems (AES) is hiring experienced Fiber Technicians to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic systems in aerial and underground environments. The role requires traveling frequently and supporting critical infrastructure projects, with openings in Austin, TX.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of fiber experience, knowledge of fiber types and color codes, and proficiency with OTDRs, power meters, and VFLs. A valid driver’s license and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing.
• Strong understanding of fiber types, color codes, and industry standards.
• Proficiency with OTDRs, power meters, VFLs, and related tools.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors year‑round, lift 50+ lbs, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
• Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables.
• Test and troubleshoot fiber using OTDRs, power meters, and related diagnostic tools.
• Read and interpret splicing diagrams, network maps, and construction drawings.
• Install enclosures, patch panels, and other fiber components.
• Mentor and provide guidance to less‑experienced technicians on job sites.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, documentation, and test records.
• Work closely with project managers and field crews to meet schedules and quality standards.
• Follow all company safety practices and site‑specific safety requirements.
• Travel regularly for project assignments, including overnight stays.

About This Role

At Advanced Electric Systems , we are looking for experienced Fiber Technicians . What You'll Do

• Familiarity with GIS tools and digital job tracking platforms (iPads/tablets)
