Job summary

Gtatelecom is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer in Richmond, VA to join its growing utility construction team. The ideal candidate will splice a variety of optical fibers, perform tests, troubleshoot, and maintain splicing equipment across buried, underground, aerial, and building environments.

Candidates should have hands-on experience with fusion splicing and optical testing gear such as EXFO, Fitel and Sumitomo, plus the ability to read maps and blueprints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years in telecommunications or related field.
• Hands-on fiber optic splicing and testing experience.
• Experience with fusion splicing and optical testing equipment.
• Knowledge of single-mode and multimode fiber.
• Ability to read maps, drawings, and testing docs.
• Ability to work independently or in a team in various environments.

Responsibilities

• Splice various fiber types including single-mode and multimode.
• Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical issues.
• Review and interpret maps, drawings, and testing documents.
• Perform daily tests and maintenance of splicing equipment.
• Conduct optical continuity and conformance testing.
• Supervise or direct team members as needed.
