Job summary

Insight Global is seeking Fiber Splicers to support large-scale hyperscale data center construction projects in the Ashburn, VA market. You will perform fusion splicing on single-mode and ribbon fiber, test using OTDRs and power meters, and document results to meet project specifications.

The role requires rotating 12-hour shifts, up to six days a week, with 24/7 project coverage. Local travel between nearby sites in Northern Virginia is expected, and you must be able to work safely in active

Qualifications

• 2+ years of fiber splicing experience.
• Available for rotating shifts (24/7 project coverage).
• Willing to work overtime as project needs require.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Experience performing fusion splicing in data center, telecom, or mission-critical environments.
• Experience with ribbon fiber and single-mode fiber.
• Familiarity with fiber testing equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and VFLs.
• Ability to read splice diagrams, fiber assignments, and project documentation.
• Work safely in active construction and live-production environments.
• Willingness to travel between Ashburn/Northern Virginia market jobsites.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing on single-mode, multi-mode, and ribbon fiber cables.
• Conduct fiber testing using OTDRs, power meters, and related test equipment.
• Troubleshoot fiber issues and identify splice losses or network faults.
• Read and interpret splice matrices, fiber assignments, and construction drawings.
• Maintain accurate splice records, test documentation, and as-built information.
• Support installation, termination, testing, and commissioning efforts.
• Ensure compliance with customer standards, site safety requirements, and quality procedures.
• Maintain and properly operate fusion splicers, cleavers, OTDRs, and related equipment.
• Collaborate with project teams to meet aggressive hyperscale data center construction schedules.
• Travel to nearby customer sites and project locations as business needs require.

Job Description

We are seeking Fiber Splicers to support large-scale hyperscale data center construction projects throughout the Ashburn, VA market. This individual will be responsible for performing fiber optic splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation activities supporting critical network infrastructure within active data center environments.

The Fiber Splicer will perform fusion splicing on single-mode and ribbon fiber, conduct fiber testing using OTDRs and power meters, and ensure all work meets customer quality standards and project specifications. This individual will work closely with project teams, field supervisors, and other technicians to support the installation and commissioning of fiber infrastructure across multiple data center campuses.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has hands-on fiber splicing experience within data centers, telecommunications, or mission-critical infrastructure projects and is comfortable working in fast-paced construction environments. Candidates who have supported hyperscale data center projects and have experience with ribbon fiber splicing will be especially successful in this role.
