Sunrise Telecom, Inc. is seeking a motivated Fiber Splicer 1 to join our telecommunications construction team in Ohio.

This entry-level position provides hands-on training and growth opportunities while assisting experienced splicers with fiber installation, preparation, testing, and maintenance. Responsibilities include assisting with fusion splicing, OTDR testing, interpreting basic splice diagrams, and supporting both aerial and underground construction crews.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Basic knowledge of construction or telecommunications preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist Fiber Splicers with fiber optic cable preparation and splicing.
• Learn to perform fusion splicing on single-mode and multi-mode fiber cables.
• Assist with OTDR and power meter testing.
• Read and interpret basic construction prints and splice diagrams.
• Install fiber enclosures, terminals, and related telecommunications equipment.
• Support aerial and underground fiber construction crews.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of work completed.
• Follow all company safety policies and customer requirements.
• Operate hand tools and basic telecommunications equipment safely.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and company vehicles.
• Travel to job sites as needed.

Position Summary

Sunrise Telecom, Inc.is seeking a motivated and dependable Fiber Splicer 1 to join our telecommunications construction team. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals looking to start or grow their career in the fiber optics and telecommunications industry. The Fiber Splicer 1 will assist experienced splicers with fiber installation, preparation, testing, and maintenance while learning industry standards, safety procedures, and technical skills.

• Outdoor field environment in varying weather conditions
• May require overtime, weekends, and travel depending on project needs
