Responsibilities

• Assist Fiber Splicers with fiber optic cable preparation and splicing.
• Learn fusion splicing on single-mode and multi-mode fibers.
• Assist with OTDR and power meter testing.
• Read and interpret basic construction prints and splice diagrams.
• Install fiber enclosures, terminals, and related equipment.
• Support aerial and underground fiber construction crews.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of work completed.
• Follow all company safety policies and customer requirements.
• Operate hand tools and basic telecommunications equipment safely.
• Travel to job sites as needed.

Position Summary

Sunrise Telecom, Inc. is seeking a motivated and dependable Fiber Splicer 1 to join our telecommunications construction team. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals looking to start or grow their career in the fiber optics and telecommunications industry. The Fiber Splicer 1 will assist experienced splicers with fiber installation, preparation, testing, and maintenance while learning industry standards, safety procedures, and technical skills.

This role offers hands-on training and growth opportunities within a fast-paced and expanding telecommunications environment.

• Assist Fiber Splicers with fiber optic cable preparation and splicing
• Learn to perform fusion splicing on single-mode and multi-mode fiber cables
• Assist with OTDR and power meter testing
• Read and interpret basic construction prints and splice diagrams
• Install fiber enclosures, terminals, and related telecommunications equipment
• Support aerial and underground fiber construction crews
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of work completed
• Follow all company safety policies and customer requirements
• Operate hand tools and basic telecommunications equipment safely
• Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and company vehicles
• Travel to job sites as needed

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of construction or telecommunications preferred but not required

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid driver’s license required
• Previous telecommunications, utility, or construction experience is a plus but not required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
• Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods
• Ability to distinguish color-coded fiber cables
• Outdoor field environment in varying weather conditions
• May require overtime, weekends, and travel depending on project needs
• Safety-sensitive position requiring strict adherence to company safety policies
