Join us as a Fiber Splicer at Locating Inc

At Ervin Cable Construction, as a Fiber Splicer, you'll complete the process of fusing optical fibers to maintain our telecommunication networks. Your splicing work is essential for ensuring reliable connections and seamless data transmission across our expanding network.

Responsibilities:

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot network circuits post-installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards
• Upgrade existing fiber sheaths with new ones
• Cut away and remove sheaths from cables to reach faulty connections and install new cables
• Guide other splicers as needed
• Complete daily vehicle maintenance and document work through reports, maps, and material records

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• High School Diploma, GED, or relevant experience
• Valid State driver's license with a good driving record
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• At least two years of fiber splicing experience
• Preferred: Certified pole climber or proficiency in pole climbing
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structures
• Physical ability to operate heavy machinery, work alone in remote locations, lift over 55 pounds, and perform physical tasks regularly and occasionally in confined spaces
