Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Shipboard Fiber Optics Technician to support cable installation and modernization projects aboard Navy and maritime vessels. You will perform hands-on shipboard work including pulling, routing, terminating, and securing fiber optic and copper cabling, building connectors, and supporting electrical and communications system upgrades.

Specialized fiber optic training will be provided. Opportunities to travel to customer sites nationwide exist once productive.

Qualifications

• 3+ years shipboard electrical experience required.
• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Experience pulling, routing and installing cable aboard ships.
• Ability to perform hands-on work in industrial environments.
• Willingness to obtain fiber optic certifications and complete training.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform shipboard fiber and copper cabling installation, termination and securement.
• Build connectors and support electrical and communications upgrades aboard vessels.
• Support modernization projects on Navy and maritime platforms.
• Travel to customer sites nationwide as projects require.

Insight Global is seeking a Shipboard Fiber Optics Technician to support cable installation and modernization projects aboard Navy and maritime vessels. This individual will perform hands‑on shipboard work including pulling, routing, terminating, and securing fiber optic and copper cabling, building connectors, and supporting electrical and communications system upgrades. Candidates will receive specialized fiber optic training and work alongside experienced technicians to become fully qualified in turnkey fiber optic installations. Once productive, there will be opportunities to travel to customer sites nationwide in support of ongoing projects.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of shipboard electrical experience
• Secret Clearance
• Experience pulling, routing, and installing cable aboard ships
• Ability to perform hands‑on physical work in industrial/maritime environments
• Willingness to obtain fiber optic certifications and complete technical training
• Ability to work overtime as needed

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Marine Electrician, Electronics Technician (ET), Electrician's Mate (EM), or IC/ICMM background
• Fiber optic certification
• Fiber optic installation or termination experience
• Connectorization experienceMulti‑pin connector experience
• RF systems experience

Compensation: $70k-$80K. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start day 1 of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
