Job summary

The Electric Boat fiber-optic engineering team designs, qualifies, integrates and tests the fiber-optic cable system (FOCS) on US Navy submarines. Engineers support the system during each development stage to drive timely completion of key milestones.

The role interfaces with NAVSEA, vendors and EB departments daily, performing investigations, drawing reviews and project tracking. Most work is in an office setting with occasional shipyard visits; travel is possible.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics required.
  • 1–5 years post graduate engineering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with NAVSEA, government vendors and Electric Boat departments daily.
  • Perform technology investigations and write white papers.
  • Review and approve drawings; resolve construction issues.
  • Identify and manage risks; pursue cost reduction opportunities.
  • Track and evaluate requirements; manage multiple projects.
