Job summary

Glass Roots Construction (GRC) seeks an Underground Fiber Placement Specialist for the Boardman/Portland region. You will help install underground fiber infrastructure, from conduit to fiber optic cable, supporting community connectivity.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus.
• Construction or utility experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Lift 75 pounds repeatedly.
• Overtime, weekends, and travel may be required.
• Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
• Work safely around heavy equipment and live utilities.
• Willingness to learn and advance within the company.

Responsibilities

• Assist underground placement of fiber optic conduit and cable.
• Hand dig around utilities and assist exposure.
• Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, and equipment.
• Install handholes, conduit systems, tracer wire, pull boxes, and vaults.
• Assist directional drill, excavator, trenching, and restoration crews.
• Pull, place, and secure fiber optic cable and microduct systems.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
• Perform traffic control and pedestrian safety duties when required.
• Follow company safety policies, OSHA standards, and customer specifications.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and assist with routine maintenance.
• Travel as required to project locations.
• Perform other construction duties as assigned.
