We are seeking a Full-Time Fiber Optic Technician to assemble, maintain, and repair fiber optic cables and related equipment within the Fiber Department. This person needs to have 2 – 3 years working with Fiber Optic Cable in a similar capacity. A person that has worked with telecommunication companies or internet providers as a fiber optics installer is an example of a person with good work background.

This position is Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm, on-site at our Van Nuys, CA facility. The wage is $21-24 per hour based on experience. There may be a need for overtime to accommodate our clients’ schedules which could include Saturdays on occasion.

Key Duties Include

  • Assemble, maintain, and repair fiber optic cables and connectors used to transmit signals within and outside of remote television facilities.
  • Performs testing of cables and/or related equipment.
  • Tests the functionality of “house” fiber systems used in conjunction with NEP’s equipment.
  • Makes recommendations for new fiber cable and equipment purchases to the Fiber Manager.
  • Performs fiber-related projects as assigned by the Fiber Manager.
  • Prepare outbound orders
  • Offers new and innovative techniques, methodology, and materials to improve systems, installation, and fabrication.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with broadcast equipment and technology (2 – 3 years).
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and manage simultaneous projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast technology, equipment, facilities, and production for major commercial and cable television networks.
  • Strong and effective communication skills.
  • Associates or Technical Degree preferred.
  • Some travel may be required to show sites.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to deliver superior service and build lasting relationships working with our clients.
