Job summary

The ComTran Group is seeking a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to perform ISP and OSP splicing, testing, and troubleshooting in the field. This role requires hands-on work with fusion and mechanical splicing, testing equipment, and bucket trucks, as well as adhering to safety protocols.

Based in the Southeast region, the role involves building splice enclosures, testing fiber links, and coordinating with team members to ensure reliable service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber optic fusion splicing and build splice enclosures.
• Conduct fiber optic mechanical splicing with Unicams or equivalents.
• Perform fiber optic testing (continuity, insertion loss, OTDR, and characterization).
• Troubleshoot fiber optic systems for repairs.
• Operate bucket truck and handle aerial splice enclosures as needed.

About this Role

The Comtran Group is looking for a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician. This role consists of all aspects of Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) fiber optic cable splicing.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Fiber optic fusion splicing (includes building splice enclosures, placing inside wall mount splice enclosures)
• Fiber optic mechanical splicing (Unicams or equivalent mechanical connectors)
• Fiber optic testing (continuity, insertion loss, OTDR and fiber characterization)
• Fiber optic troubleshooting for repair
• Bucket truck operation
• Lowering and raising aerial splice enclosures
