Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a field-based role in Tampa, FL to review and evaluate FTTH construction projects, ensuring compliance with design, safety, and regulatory standards. You will perform QA checks on completed and ongoing projects, respond to contractor questions, and liaise with inspectors and utility representatives.

The role requires five years in outside plant construction, strong reading of blueprints, and knowledge of NEC/NES.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the outside plant (OSP) that supports telecommunications services (Telephone, CATV, and High- Speed Internet).
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, and suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight forward, and professional manner.
• Knowledge of F.O.A, N.E.C and N.E.S.C. for communications for outside plant and construction practice and inside and around buildings.
• Ability to read general system layouts from blueprints and system maps.
• Ability to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate FTTH construction projects, comparing plan design against new build, spans, drops, and installations.
• Perform quality checks on completed work and ongoing projects; address contractor questions about design prints.
• Ensure OSHA standards and MOT are followed in fieldwork; verify footage, path depth, and proper splicing.
• Meet inspectors and utility representatives; document restoral to standard and maintain As-Built records.
• Operate test equipment to verify optical levels and document field work with photos/videos.
