About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Fiber Optic Network Planner to join their team in Paarl . This role is essential for the strategic planning and design of our client's fiber optic network expansion. You will be responsible for analyzing network requirements, planning optimal routes, and creating detailed designs that ensure efficient and cost-effective deployment of new fiber infrastructure. This position requires a strong understanding of network topology, civil engineering considerations, and the ability to work collaboratively with field teams and stakeholders in the Western Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed network designs and route maps for new fiber optic deployments.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments to identify optimal network paths and potential challenges.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and cost estimates for network build projects.
• Coordinate with civil works teams, permitting authorities, and other stakeholders to facilitate network construction.
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company best practices.

Requirements

• Degree or National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in planning and designing fiber optic networks within the telecoms industry.
• Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and CAD tools for network design.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic cable technologies, splicing, and installation methods.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
