Expected Outcomes and Requirements:

Gateway is hiring a Fiber Optic Installation Technician to deliver an exceptional customer installation experience, troubleshoot service disruptions, and uphold Gateway's quality standards in support of our goal of adding 100,000 residential & business passings per year. The Fiber Optic Installation Technician is expected to contribute in the following significant ways:

  1. Terminating fiber optic cables.
  2. Augmenting existing network installations.
  3. Installing fiber optic connections to homes, businesses and enterprise buildings.
  4. Network documentation.
  5. Audit & inspection of newly completed network construction.
  6. Repair of damaged infrastructure.
  7. Deployment of additional network cabinet / node sites.
  8. Provide an exceptional Gateway Fiber experience to the customer.
  9. Avoid suspending work orders until all troubleshooting and repair options have been exhausted.
  10. Notify dispatch and leaders about issues inhibiting work from being completed and follow through to assist with the completion of necessary repairs.

The successful candidate will bring the following to the table:

  1. The ability to arrive at work on time and attired in alignment with company dress code.
  2. The proven ability to maintain a clean and hazard-free work vehicle & environment.
  3. Knowledge of 802.11 Wireless Networking installation & troubleshooting; preferred.
  4. Basic TCP/IP configuration & troubleshooting; preferred.
  5. Proven attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
  6. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  7. Eagerness to learn and grow.
  8. High school diploma or equivalent; required.
  9. Vocational school training or apprenticeship; preferred.
  10. Valid Class E Driver’s License; required.
  11. Ability to stand and walk for up to eight hours per day, climbing multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing 40 to 60 pounds.
  12. Ability to ride in a vehicle for up to four hours per day while traveling to job locations.
  13. Ability to work in different temperatures and changing weather conditions.
  14. Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather conditions; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling and stretching.
  15. Understanding and identification of standard construction site hazards.
  16. Ability to differentiate colors, shades, and brightness levels.
  17. Flexibility of schedule to meet changing job demands.
