Job summary

MACOM seeks an Assembler 2-Fiber Optic Assembler in New Jersey to read diagrams and assemble fiber optic cables per specifications. You will support production and operate under direct supervision, using hand tools and templates to build subassemblies.

Ideal candidates show high dexterity, experience with microscopes for inspection, and strict adherence to SOPs. This ITAR-restricted role requires U.S. Persons. Salary ranges from $25.00 to $30.00 per hour plus benefits.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and align fiber optic components following diagrams and specs.
• Prepare fiber optic cables for polishing and complete polishing to spec.
• Verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
• Inspect parts for defects and calibrate assemblies to tolerances.
• Study assembly instructions and gather parts, tools, and subassemblies.
• Position parts and subassemblies using templates and measurements.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment by following procedures.

Job Title: Assembler 2-Fiber Optic Assembler

Position Overview:

An Assembler 2 reads and follows diagrams to assemble andlens fiber optic cables according to product specifications. Supportsproduction and efficient machine operation under direct supervision. Familiarwith standard assembly concepts, practices, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Align, fit, and assemblycomponent parts into completed units, using hand tools, power tools,fixtures, and templates.
• Prepare fiber optic cable for fiber polishing and complete thepolishing process to specifications.
• Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance toblueprint specifications, using instruments, such as micrometers,calipers, and height gauges.
• Examine parts for defects, repairs, reworks, and calibrateassemblies to meet operational tolerances.
• Prepare work by studying assembly instructions, blueprintspecifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools,and materials.
• Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or readingmeasurements.
• Maintain safe and clean work environment by complying withprocedures, rules, and regulations.

Key Competencies & Skills required:

• High degree of dexterity.
• Familiar with following travelers and standard operating proceduresand follows basics of assembly drawings under direct supervision.
• Experience using microscopes to inspect products and ensure thehighest standard of quality.
• Dueto ITAR regulations, only candidates who are U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens,U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, or individuals granted asylumor refugee status) will be considered for this position.

The Salary Range for this position is $25.00– $30.00.Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, includingbut not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education,and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
