Job summary

Lumibird USA, located in West Springfield, MA, seeks an assembler for optical fiber and electromechanical assemblies. You will handle, splice, solder, and wire devices in a clean room and ESd-controlled environment, using test equipment as part of routine manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Follow detailed technical procedures and electronic data entry at time of assembly.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Windows file system.
• Soldering and basic electrical test equipment experience (ESD experience also desired).
• Excellent eyesight, fine motor skills, and precision handling techniques.

• Handling and processing optical fiber and epoxies to make delicate optical components.
• Fiber handling, Splicing, and Cleaving of optical fiber.
• PCB installation and component soldering with ESD precautions.
• Entering assembly and test data in fiber assembly database.
• Reports to supervisor and follows a set of standards and procedures to perform routine work.
• Seeks supervisory approval on non-routine tasks.
• Ability to work in clean room environment and follow proper clean room protocol.
• Ability to use some test equipment (DMM , Oscilloscope )
• Ability to conduct some laser module testing.

JOB SUMMARY:

To perform a wide variety of optical fiber and electromechanical assemblies related to manufacturing, of fiber lasers and laser sub-assemblies. Handle, prepare and splice optical fiber and optical fiber components/devices in clean room environments. Handle, solder and wire electrical (PCB) and opto-electrical devices in ESD controlled environments. Electro/mechanical/optical assembly.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a position with no supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Requires the ability to follow detailed technical procedures and electronic data entry at time of assembly.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and windows file system.
• Soldering and basic electrical test equipment experience (ESD experience also desired)
• Excellent eyesight, fine motor skills, and precision handling techniques (steady hand, microscope level work, and excellent hand eye coordination.).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• 1-4 years of electrical soldering and/or optical fiber splicing.
• 1-4 years of industrial manufacturing experience required.
• 1-4 years fiber handling/manufacturing experience
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Knowledge of ISO quality systems advantageous.
